  • Picked up the restored version of Reefer Madness and am listening to the Mike Nelson commentary as we speak. It’s good to hear him riff on something new. I’d never seen this before so it’s all new to me.

Some friends will be stopping by tonight to watch some high quality films. I’m thinking a little Angry Red Planet and maybe some Slime People, those are always easy to have fun with.

This week was pretty good for me. I met my work deadline, I got another shipment of MST3K episodes in the mail and it is BEAUTIFUL outside today.

  • I’m starting to think that God is angry with the Philadelphia area. It poured again yesterday, flooding out general areas. I know I’m going to go to hell for this but it is soooooo funny watching stupid people drive their car into 3 foot deep water, thinking they can make it through. The hell part comes into play when you see the back end of the car rise up and you see it start to float but can still make out the person behind the wheel turn it frantically in hopes of directing it like it’s a boat. I was able to keep my composure seeing that a few times but I lost it when they showed a car that was floating a good 50-60 yards and when it got closer to the camera it started rotating around and when the ass end of the car came into view you could see the break lights coming on several times. I could just see the driver (helmsman at this point really) sitting there, pounding on the breaks wondering why his car was still moving. Iced tea almost came through my nose with that one.

  • Oh my, I watched Bad Boys 2 last night. Ugh. They could have blown up one less building and paid a writer so they didn’t to have such a silly movie. It was fun watching crap blow up but some of the silliness that was Martin Lawrence’s character got to be too much for me.

That and I couldn’t help thinking how if Kennedy had these two guys with him when he did the whole Bay of Pigs things Cuba may be the 51st state now.

  • So I got to see a bunch of movies this weekend. First off last night I had two friends come over to watch some B movies with me. It was our first time all watching high quality flicks together so I wanted to pick some that I knew were easy to enjoy. We started things off with Reptilicus, a new favorite of mine. Any monster that has shorter arms than a T Rex is a winner in my book.

The next film was Planet of the Vampires. I love this movie since, if they were actually going to a planet filled with vampires they were wearing the absolutely correct clothing for it. They had some sort of leather uniform that had a neckline that made turtlenecks look like V necks. I often wondered why, when people go vampire hunting in a movie they don’t get themselves a big ass iron collar to wear since it seems that movie vampires can only bite you on the neck… but I digress. I’ll be posting a review for this film shortly.

I even cracked myself up with one line. There comes a time in the film when the heroes see a bunch of dead bodies in a room but continue to search the ship. When they make their way back to that room all the bodies are gone but their helmets are still lying around on the ground. Captain hero kept asking ‘where are they?’ I suggested that maybe they shrunk and climbed into their helmets to hide from you. Well, after typing it, it didn’t seem too funny but if you ever see that scene just think of that and you have to laugh.

After that one I put on Space Mutiny, my all time favorite MST episode. Between Santa, the dead officer that serves on the bridge, and Big McLargehuge that movie had it all. Throw in the Battlestar Galactica graphics and I can’t pass it up.

My intent was to sleep in today by my neighbor had different ideas with his home improvements so I was up bright and early watching more crap this morning. I saw last years Timeline and Lost Skeleton of Cadavra and am currently watching a movie of the highest quality, Vampyros Lesbos. All of these are going to get their very own reviews as soon as I get the chance.

  • Stuck up another review. I got my latest shipment of DVD’s from Netflix. Among them was a recommendation made by the guys and gals at the MST3K yahoo group, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. I’m sure I’ll be putting something up about that one over the weekend.

I may have finally talked some friends into coming over Saturday to watch some high quality movies. I think I’m going to start them off with The Angry Red Planet and The Brain that Wouldn’t Die, those are easy to make fun of.

And just so everyone knows, this started out as just a regular entry but somehow I started to go nuts seeing how many links I could add to it. I really need a weekend, I think I'm losing it...

  • Boring weekend, which was kinda good cause I needed some alone time. I did go through my entire collection of B Movies, organizing and putting them into a database… yep, I am one hell of a dork.

I posted a couple more reviews. Since I have reupped my Netflix I’ll be watching quite a few movies over the summer. I even created a B Movie blogring, just in case there are more sorry souls out there like me ;)

  • I watched ‘Attack of the Blood Farmers’ the other day. I’ll be putting up a review of it soon. I started watching ‘”X” The Man With the X – Ray Eyes’ last night after poker but just couldn’t hold on long enough to make it all the way through. I’ll probably finish it up later today.

On Thursday I came very close to having an emotional moment inside Best Buy. I’ve seen that they have started to release B Movie multi-packs. About two years ago I saw 4 movies for ten bucks, fantastic! My collection started to grow. Earlier this year I saw a ten movie pack for about twenty bucks, ohhhhh. Thursday I was on the far side of the DVD department, the bargain section, and saw they now have twenty packs for just a little more than twenty bucks. I was giddy with excitement. I was searching around the Sci-Fi section to find MST3K Volume 5 and what I saw brought a tear to my eye, literally. A fifty, yes that right 50 movies, for less than thirty bucks. It was as if I were an ape seeing the monolith for the first time. I ended up spending over a hundred bucks on movies that day and I averaged just a little more than a buck a movie. It was a beautiful thing.

If anyone is interested, this is the link to the 50 pack of movies.

  • Well, I finished ‘Warning From Space’ and decided to try out the reviews section to see how I like it. If you’re interested you can see my review here.

I have some of my friends coming over tonight to watch some movies. My Goddaughter will be with them so one of them will be a kids friendly flick. I’ve been able to keep them from renting Kangaroo Jack so far but they threatened it today. I can’t say anything during the kids movie, you don’t want to piss off a six year old girl, they punch at your groin.

  • God I just love the internet. You really can find anything you need here. I looked around for like 3 or 4 clicks and found the cowbell skit from SNL. I'm afraid to google myself and see what I'll find.

I'm about to watch the gem 'Warning from Space' The DVD box makes the movie look promising, there's a giant starfish with a disproportionately large eye right in the middle of it. Of course I’m not sure what would be an appropriately size eye for a starfish since none of the ones I’ve seen have one, but what do I know?
